How to be "Skin Fit" - The importance of a Skincare Ritual
So why is a skincare routine essential to your daily ritual? How can one get started? We chatted with expert Dion Nash founder of Triumph and Disaster to break it down.
Ritual over routine. How do you define the difference and what is the importance of a ritual in general?
For me a ritual is always infused with a little ceremony, something that takes it beyond merely routine. Ceremony makes things special, gives them weight and importance. When you are investing in yourself, which a great grooming routine is, making it special and valuable comes down to having thought about the process, tailoring it to your specific needs/wants, using great (natural and sustainable) products, and perhaps infusing it with a little ceremony that just makes it your own.
Why is a skin care ritual important?
Practicing great rituals around skincare is like having a great fitness or gym routine. Only through regular attention and practice can you see the results. Anyone can pay the subscription or buy the product. But it takes regular use and effort to apply it and build a routine that actually ensures great skin health. We call it being skin fit. Getting to know the way your skin reacts to different conditions, and using products that make you feel great.
What are some products to get started with?
I would stake my reputation on this trifecta, our face cleanser, our rock n roll scrub and our gameface moisturiser. Use these three in combination and after a month you will have better skin - I have no question about this. Moreover, you will feel great.
How and when should you apply said products?
Ritual Cleanser - Clean your face in the shower daily with the cleanser - just a glob in your hand and rub into your pores and wash off.
Rock&Roll Face Scrub - Twice a week (once for business, once for pleasure , Monday morning, friday morning) use the scrub - make a big mess for 30 seconds, get the forehead, nose and any trouble spots then wash clean (this product will change your life).
Gameface Moisturiser - Finally apply gameface every morning to your clean but dry face. Be liberal or light depending on your skins needs, you will work this out as you go. - but use gameface everyday and dont forget the back of your neck, no one likes a rubber neck at 50!
